Obituary of Emily Riemenschneider
Emily Louise Riemenschneider, 95, was a long time resident of Seaford, NY. She spent the past few years living with her daughter in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Born 8/17/27 passed on 12/27/22 surrounded by her devoted family. Loving mother of Ed (Mary) Deerfield, NY; Neal (Ruth) Winchester, VA; Karl Patchogue, NY; and Penny White (Ken) Mechanicsburg, PA. Cherished grandmother of Glenn, John, Shea, Gina, Jessica, Danny, Michelle, Carolyn, and Christine. She was blessed with 13 great grandchildren who she treasured.
Emily was remarkably sharp through her whole life and had a delightful memory for all her full 95 years. She had memories of working in the garden in the backyard, Easter egg hunts, and trolley rides that would make her smile in recollection of her beautiful life.
She enjoyed making us laugh in subtle ways and had a way about her that was gentle and approachable. Her family lit up her world and she loved the simple pleasures of SkipBo and conversation with her loved ones. She would never admit it, but she was a card shark and regularly beat us at any game we played. An avid reader, she was interested in a vast many topics. She adored her husband, Ludwig, to whom she was married for 65 years. Uniquely kind, she was a gentle soul who only saw the good in all people.
A giving, caring heart, one of Emily’s greatest joys was crocheting afghans for family, veterans, seamen, and children in need. She crocheted countless blankets, hats and scarfs for many local charities.
Emily was a long time member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal church and St. Michael’s Episcopal church in Seaford, NY where she was treasurer for many years.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 6th from 9 – 11 AM at William E. Law funeral home, 1 Jerusalem Ave, Massapequa, NY. Followed by a visit to the grave site at Calverton National Cemetery.
Emily, Mom, Nanny, and Oma will be missed deeply and loved daily by the many people whose lives she touched with kindness, generosity, and her big heart.
