Obituary of Louis J. Mustacchio
Louis Joseph Mustacchio was born on December 13, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to Aurelia (nee Sanchez) and Mario, the older brother to Joseph (predeceased) and Catherine. Louis attended Catholic grammar and high school, where he served as an altar boy and worked from a very young age, delivering newspapers and later groceries by bicycle. When not working to help support his family, he could be found in the schoolyard playing baseball. An avid Brooklyn Dodger fan, some of his best memories were attending games with his dad. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, which he reminisced about throughout his life. Upon returning home, he began what would be a 61 year Wall Street career at Chemical Bank. It was there that he met his future wife, Roseann (nee Riccio) in the elevator. The two were married on September 8, 1962 and resided in East New York until later making the move to Valley Stream, Long Island, where they lived for almost forty years. During the early years, he continued to play baseball and bowl with his company teams at U.S. Trust Company. The couple became parents to Marianne (Michael) in 1964, Louis Jr. in 1966 and Christine (Lori) in 1974. The family poodle, Jerry, was named after a pitcher for the New York Mets, which became his team of choice after the Dodgers left Brooklyn. Lou learned to play golf later in life and was a member of The Rockville Links Club in Rockville Centre, where he would entertain clients during his 40 years with Allen and Company, Inc., retiring at the age of 85. In 2004, Lou and Roseann moved to Wantagh, where he lived out the remainder of his days. The greatest joy in life was the arrival of five grandchildren: Zachary, Cassandra, April, Carrie and Shae. He beamed with pride at their every accomplishment and enjoyed spending holidays and celebrations together. The highlight of the year was taking the family of twelve on a summer Caribbean vacation. The final trip was to Aruba in the summer of 2022, a second visit, as it was his favorite island. Lou was revered as a dedicated employee and family man, as well as one of extreme charitable generosity. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to one of his favorite charities: Tunnel to Towers, Ronald MacDonald House or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
