Sadie was a good friend of my mom, Eileen Trick. She helped celebrate my mom’s 90 th birthday 6 years ago. They enjoyed talking about gardening and sharing a cup of tea.

Grandma
Thinking back to memories of my Grandma always means to remember her love for her garden. Whenever we would visit her home i’d be greeted with a gentle hug and smile, and a pinch on our cheeks. I always was so excited to see what had changed since our last loop around her garden. I remember one particular trip, her garden was so vibrant with flowers of every color in the rainbow. But even more astounding than that was the stalks of sunflowers that towered over each of us in the back right corner of her garden. Her green thumb was quite unmatched! After a lap through her garden, my siblings and I would all race to her large shed that contained an old tricycle and wheelbarrow that we’d fight over and take turns going up and down the driveway with.
One of the last memories I hold close to my heart was my wedding day. I remember how bright her smile was and I think the picture here truly captures the love and happiness she felt that day.
Lastly, every birthday or holiday she would never fail to send a card with a sweet message (with her perfect cursive) and newspaper cutouts of funny pictures or comic strips! She was truly one of a kind and I will miss the way her home never changed over the many years, her love for her garden, the pinches on my cheeks, and just the comfort and familiarity of her home and presence. Rest easy, Grandma.

Looking through some old photos, I found this note which for me is very telling of my aunt. Not a birthday or holiday went by without a kind note from her. Over many years this was often followed up with some phone chat, which on the surface was typically formal and practical regarding family, health, and of course her garden. But underneath there was always a sense of warmth and genuine caring. Allison could also sense this and readily took to her. She truly enjoyed her and could also see, as I know many would agree, that aunt Sadie was good to have in your life. She will truly be deeply missed. Love Allison and Jon ♥

This beautiful lady was my Aunt Sadie. I will miss our talks which always included her boasting about what was blooming in her garden. She and I shared a love for all beautiful flowers. We also shared a love for food. Even though hers was more eating it and mine more cooking. Her trips to Uncle Giuseppe’s for a treat made her happy. Especially if she had a gift card so she could splurge on something a little different! What made her light up most were her Great Grandchildren, she loved sharing stories of them all. They brought her great joy and she was lucky to have many to cherish.
The last of the elders in our Italian family she was loved by so many of us. I will miss you Aunt Sadie. With all my love , Tracey

In reflecting upon the loss of dear Sadie, heartache and fond memories intermingle. An adoration for life and love persisted through her, a beacon in any storm. Her laughter remains, echoing in conversations shared daily as a cherished tradition. Through reminiscence on kinship and mother-daughter bonding cherished with Kathy, Sadie's light never dimmed. Independent and active, she served as an example to many while painting the world pink and yellow through her beloved gardening endeavors. Now heaven has gained an angel in our precious Sadie; may she rest peacefully in the garden of eternal slumber.
