Obituary of Joan Laskoff
Joan Laskoff of Syosset, NY was born January 2, 1946, where she resided for 54 years with her late husband Stephen. She passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023. She is survived by her loving children Brian and Kevin, their spouses Carrie and Stacy, and four grandchildren; Tali, Jed, Ben and Eve.
Joan was born in the Bronx but grew up in New Jersey, graduating from Fairlawn high school. She moved to California from 1966-1969 to work as a secretary for several military based companies and eventually moved back to New Jersey where she met her husband Stephen. She held a position as a legal secretary in numerous law firms and eventually retired from one that she loved to work for where her coworkers became long-time friends. She made a very positive impact wherever she was employed and excelled at her job, always operating with a high level of work ethic and efficiency. This was true not only prior to her retiring but also in the 1960’s as letters of recommendations indicated that she always went above and beyond what was asked. She was a very intelligent, hard-working, strong and courageous woman and carried those attributes through recent health battles.
Joan loved to cook and bake and excelled at it. She enjoyed having dinner parties at her home and having people over to enjoy a meal with her family and friends. When she was younger she enjoyed playing tennis and in recent times, could aways find her watching the professionals play. She also enjoyed bowling and dancing, knitting, needlepoint, played piano and enjoyed the beach and traveling with her family whenever possible. Along with her husband, they enjoyed visiting casinos and often seemed lucky with a nice win.
When her children were younger she had an active role in the PTO organizations within the Syosset School district and steered her children towards activities and sports in the community. She always worked hard to do everything she could to ensure her kids were successful. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and never passed up the opportunity to discuss them with her friends and family.
Joan was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Visitation will be at her home at 22 Circle Drive Syosset, NY on July 15, 2023 between 11am-5pm.
