How does one even begin to attempt to talk about how much Denise impacted all of our lives? My life?
She was the warmest, kindest, funniest as anyone, had such an amazing laugh. You wanted her in the audience of Back to The 80s, Cats, or Side Show.
In high school and college, I spent more days in the Miles kitchen and living room with Denise and Meghan than I did in my own. Whether it was talking theatre gossip, catching up over Krisch's ice cream, or sharing a bottle of white wine once we were able.
Denise celebrated the successes of everyone and was there to pick up the pieces when things did not go right.
The Miles home, that kitchen became a very important place to me.
The first time I met Denise, was over 15 years ago. Meghan had invited me over probably after a rehearsal. Denise welcomed me into her home like I was family. I became family. She made me feel seen, heard, she laughed with her incredible laugh at my very bad jokes, I was able really able to be myself in that kitchen. With Denise and Meghan. With this extended family of mine.
One memory that sticks out. Meghan, Denise, myself, and my mom went to dinner at the very fancy Applebees. Just the four of us.
That meal we laughed, gossiped, I probably did some complaining about local theatre politics. But I finally felt like I had found my people, my family.
I had been searching for that my whole life and during that meal it all came into focus. That meal was followed by years of friendship and family. Of memories that I cherish as some of the defining moments of my life. In that kitchen with Denise and Meghan.
Denise wasn’t just Meghan’s mom to me. She was a friend. A very important piece of my family.
Every single time I drink a glass of white wine, it’ll be for Denise.

The notion that Denise is no longer with us is surreal, it saddens my heart. She was a joyous burst of energy and I always loved sparing with her keen wit and brilliant sense of humor. We shared many laughs and good times, and her infectious smile and warm friendship will be sorely missed.
However, the love, joy, and guidance she gave Brian and their family was a godsend, a blessing they’ve been fortunate to receive and enjoy for many decades.
Denise, you were a bright star in many people’s lives, but now, sweet soul, Rest in Peace…as you will live on in our hearts and precious memories.

I have had the honor of teaching voice and working with Denise's daughter Meghan. Although I met and spent some sweet time with Denise, knowing Meghan was like knowing Denise. Not only through her energy, smile and vivacious personality but also through the amount of love she so easily and generously shared about her mom. For a woman as amazing as Meghan to so unabashedly adore her mother, I felt an immediate kinship with Denise. And it was exactly that as soon as we met. Generous, kind, funny and adorable, Denise had stars in her eyes when she spoke of Meghan. And was so appreciative of me for helping to guide her daughter, even though Meghan already had amazing talent! If there is anything I've taken from knowing Denise it's to go the extra mile to make someone else smile, to be genuine and aware of other's feelings and to give love freely. All things Denise did so well. My heart aches. The earth has lost someone who has made a difference. Grateful for the little time I had to experience that. My love and condolences to her beautiful family. ~Michelle Mallardi

I am so very sorry to hear about Denise's passing. I remember her well, she was always warm and friendly. My thoughts and prayers are with Brian and his family. May she rest amongst the angels and be with you always. I am certain this is not goodbye and just a temporary leave until one day she will be with you all again.

Denise has been a friend of the family for as long as I can remember. I grew up with her as someone I could call a second mother, a friend, an "aunt" - someone that was close to home and someone that felt like home. She entered every room with a smile, lifted spirits if they were down, was super supportive in all major milestones for not only myself, but for our whole family. There wasn't a party that Denise and Brian were not on the guest list, always on the "A Team". I will forever remember Denise either in my parents backyard during the summer, or in their living room around the holidays - drinking a glass of sauvignon blanc, telling a story, making a joke, or rolling her eyes at one of Brian's silly jokes. I will remember her warm embraces, she gave the best hugs. Her beautiful and nurturing spirit will be missed, but she will always live on in our hearts.
