Obituary of Diane M. Baylis

Diane Marie Baylis May 8, 1944 to December 10, 2022 Diane Marie Baylis, 78, of Wantagh passed away December 10, 2022 after a six-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Douglas J Baylis, her daughter and her husband, Randi and Kyle Conway, her son and his wife, Douglas and Sharon Baylis, and four cherished grandchildren: Kathryn Conway, Caroline Conway, Brooke Baylis and Brianna Baylis. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Beisel, and her brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Veronica Muller. She leaves a multitude of nieces, one nephew and a small army of cousins. Mrs. Baylis was born in Ridgewood, NY to Gerald and Mary Muller. She lived in Bellmore, Valley Stream and Wantagh, including a short stint in De Ridder, LA while her husband was stationed at Fort Polk. She graduated from Mepham High School in Bellmore and received her R.N. at Mary Immaculate School of Nursing in Jamaica, NY. She worked in hospitals, home health and finished the last 25 years of her career as the school nurse at Wantagh Elementary School. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved being in the city, just exploring or attending shows. There’s a small fortune of dollars bills in in her drawer that she acquired over the years from her weekly card game with the ladies. She looked forward to small adventures and nature walks and was a voracious reader. Her happy place was Jones Beach. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 13 at William E Law Funeral Home from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral will be Wednesday, December 14 at 9:45 am at Maria Regina Roman Catholic Church in Seaford followed by an inurnment at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
