Obituary of Lorraine Kurkjian

Lorraine Kurkjian, of Massapequa, New York, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021. She was born in New York City, N.Y. on February 24, 1928, to Julia and Manuel Carcel. She attended a vocational high school, and graduated with a Degree in Fashion and Interior Design in 1947. She went on to work for five years as a comptometer operator for Liggett Rexall Drug Stores. On February 13,1949, she married Michael Kurkjian, and three years later gave birth to twins. They moved to their new family home in Massapequa, where they resided for 68 years. In 1958 they welcomed their third child into the world. Lorraine was an accomplished seamstress and artist. She enjoyed decorating her home, cooking, and baking. She was an avid reader, loved to cruise, and most of all, loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Michele and her husband Michael Castillo, Norine and her husband Charles Fichter, Michael and his wife Nancy Kurkjian, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Michael Kurkjian, and her parents Julia and Manuel Carcel. Services will be held at William E. Law Funeral Home, 1 Jerusalem Avenue, Massapequa, NY on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation in memory of Lorraine Kurkjian to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
