Margaret E. Hennessy (Peggy) lived in Seaford, NY most of her life. She was born in Maspeth Queens and raised in Cambria Heights, where she met Joseph (Joe) and was married for over 66 years until his passing September 24, 2014. Peggy passed away March 22, 2020. She was born October 28, 1929 to Catherine and John O’Neill she was one of 3 children – her brothers were Jack and Joe. She had four children - Margaret Connolly (Peggy) married to Dennis, Joseph (Joe) married to Julie, John married to Angela and James (Jim) marred to Kathy. She also had 14 grandchildren, Joseph, John (JJ) and Melonie, Patrick and Joleigh, Dan and Betsy, Kathleen, Sean, Brendon, Ryan, Meghan and Mike, Conor, Liam and Kyle, William (Billy) and Michael (Mike) and Morgen and 5 great grandchildren Lucas, Ruby, Eily , Emilia and Quin as well. She loved Country music and was played Patsy Kline hours before she passed.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she left behind many nieces and nephews that included Kevin O’neill and his family that will miss her as well as her sister-in-law Loretta and her husband Tom and niece Kathleen and her siblings Mary, Patricia, Timmy and Tommy. Along with Patti, Cathy, Susan and Nancy and their families. Her cousin Lois was always a frequent visitor as well
Peggy raised her family in Seaford - loved and was loved by her neighbors on Hollis Lane. She worked for many years in Mid Island Department store in Seaford and then at Burlington until she was almost 80 years old. She loved what she did and the people she worked with. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. William the Abbot in Seaford. When she was younger she worked on some projects for the blind.
Joe and Peggy had many parties at their house in Seaford. It was the family and extended family gathering place for many years for all occasions, but especially on New Years’ Day. That was always a command performance – we all had to be there to celebrate the holidays together. Peggy also loved all animals and would take in stray cats that were pregnant and then find homes for the kittens. They also had dogs along the way.
They didn’t travel very much, but did take great vacations and made great memories of Maine when her family was young several times. For the fortieth anniversary they went to Ireland and England. Fiftieth to Las Vegas, and Bermuda in between. They did take many road trips to visit family and friends.
She will be missed by all.
