Obituary of Mathilde Madelmayer

Madelmayer, Mathilde “Tilly”
It is with great sadness that the family of Mathilde Madelmayer announces her passing after a sudden but brief illness, on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018, at the age of 79 years. Tilly, daughter of Karl and Mathilde Straus will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Robert and his two sons, James (Jean) and Glenn (Loretta). Tilly will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Robert, Sean, Caitlin, Jennifer, Lauren, Thomas and Stacy and her sister-in-law, Irene Winckel. Tilly was predeceased by her brothers, Valentin and Karl, sisters, Anna, Hildegard, Magda, Maria and Kathe. 

A loving mother and homemaker, Tilly was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. Nothing made her happier than spending Friday nights with friends and family playing cards and enjoying a nice cheese fondue and the many Sunday afternoon backyard barbeques or a trip to the Plattdeutsche Park or Koenig’s German restaurant. Mom loved spending time cultivating her many flowers in her beautiful garden where she loved to spend time with family and friends with the help of her dog, Buddy.

Tilly loved her grandchildren who will always remember her for her “warm kisses”, collections of Hummels and Gnomes, knitted blankets and her favorite Christmas gatherings.

A Funeral Service in memory of Tilly will be held on Saturday November 3, 2018 at 9:45am., at MariaRegina R.C. Church, 3945 Jerusalem Avenue, Seaford, NY, 11783. Viewing will be held at William E. LawFuneral Home, 1 Jerusalem Avenue, Massapequa, NY 11758. (Corner of Hicksville Rd and Jerusalem Ave.) on Friday. November 2, 2018 from 4-8:00pm.
