Obituary of Addie Hayde
On June 26, 2024, a dear, wonderful woman, Addie Hayde, passed from our world. For over 101 years, her loving and caring ways were a blessing to our family.
Addie was born in Manhattan on June 7, 1923. Later, she was a long-time resident of West Hempstead. For the last 15 years Addie resided at Dominican Village in Amityville. There she joined in various activities and made many friendships.
Addie was devoted to her loving husband, Philip, for fifty years. Philip predeceased her in 1997. She is survived by her two children, Philip (Marybeth) and Lorraine (Dan), and her granddaughter Corynne.
She loved to sing and shared her love of music with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and devising her own unique recipes. Her interests included dancing; she and her daughter participated in Macy’s Longest Tap Line event, which made the Guinness Book of Records. Macy’s was one of her favorite places; she loved to shop. We teasingly referred to her as Mrs. Macy’s.
Addie had a great sense of humor. She made us laugh, comforted us when we cried, and taught us to love and bond as a family. She was kind, generous, and very appreciative of any kindness she received.
Addie’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this challenging time.
We love you, Mom, and we will miss you more than words can express.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
