Obituary of Ross E. Huestis
Ross E. Huestis, age 66, passed away on May 18, 2024 with his wife Doreen and daughter Diana by his side, guiding him as he journeyed onward.
He was born on January 22, 1958 in Garden City, NY to Helen & Wilber Huestis. From the start, he had a clear sense of purpose, approaching every hurdle with a defiant declaration. His trademark expression "catch ya later, I've got things to do" characterized him until his final moments.
Ross was a man of few words but his actions spoke volumes-always putting others before himself and never expecting anything in return- all the way to the end. His final act of love was ensuring Mother's Day cards for his wife and daughter, a testament to his enduring thoughtfulness.
In his spare time, Ross found joy in riding his treasured motorcycle—a teal-colored 1994 Harley Davidson Softail Classic, a faithful companion for 30 years. Despite facing his own challenges, Ross remained a symbol of strength. Even as his health declined, he undertook a remarkable 480-mile round trip to Lake George on his Harley with friends, proving his resilience and determination beyond doubt
Above all else, Ross cherished his role as a father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and thoughtfulness that will continue to inspire future generations.
He is survived by Doreen, Diana, Keira and Janice who will forever cherish his memory.
A visitation & funeral to honor and celebrate Ross' life will be held on Wednesday May 22nd at William E. Law Funeral Home in Massapequa and Thursday May 23rd at Pinelawn Cemetery in Melville.
As Ross completed his earthly journey on the anniversary of his daughter's wedding, he left behind a legacy of love and resilience. Though his physical presence may be absent, his memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Ross. Until we meet again, we'll catch ya later.
