Obituary of Jerry Svoboda Jr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Svoboda, Jr. on February 9, 2024, in Melville, NY. Born on November 26, 1951, in Manhattan, he lived to the age of 72. An esteemed and dedicated professional, Jerry had a lifelong career with the New York City Transit Authority, eventually retiring in the role of Director of Budget and Finance, where his acumen and leadership were respected and valued.

Jerry will be fondly remembered for his wit and intelligence, as well as the determination and resilience that characterized both his personal and professional life. His hobbies, which included going to the beach, tending to his garden, and bringing laughter to those around him, were a reflection of the love he had for life and the natural world.

Left to honor Jerry and remember him are his three daughters Lauren, Erica, and Jessica, his son-in-law Paul, and his grandson, Julian. He was preceded in death by his father Jerry, mother Betty, and sister Linda.

A memorial service will be held to commemorate Jerry's life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the William E. Law Inc. Funeral Home, located in Massapequa, NY. Family and friends are invited to pay their last respects and celebrate a life well-lived.
