Obituary of Gina M. Lepre
Gina Lepre passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life defined by dedication to family, hard work, and steady presence. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Lepre; her sister, Olga Gargiulo, and Olga’s husband, Al Gargiulo; her nephew, Peter Gargiulo; and her son-in-law, Mike Savage, Joanne’s husband.
Born in April 1927 in the Bronx, Gina was the daughter of Italian immigrants Peter and Rita Martini. She attended Christopher Columbus High School and, following graduation, built a successful career as a bookkeeper, working for high-end retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue.
Family was central to Gina’s life. She lived closely with her sister Olga and played an important role in helping raise her four nephews, Peter, Robert, Anthony, and Albert, remaining a constant presence throughout their lives.
In 1973, Gina married Joseph Lepre and embraced her role within a blended family, becoming a devoted stepmother to his three daughters, Camille (Bill), Phyllis (Ken), and Joanne (Mike).
Gina was a proud grandmother to KJ (Jaclyn) and Shawn (Kerri), and a great-grandmother to Shawn’s three children, Lucas, Cole, and Natalie. She followed their lives with interest and pride and valued time spent with them.
In the early 1990s, Gina and Joe moved to Florida to enjoy their retirement years together. After Joe’s passing, she returned to New York, where she remained close to family and longtime connections. Among those was her cousin Cookie, with whom Gina stayed in touch throughout her life.
Gina will be remembered for her work ethic, her loyalty to family, and the care she showed in both quiet and meaningful ways.
