Solomon B. Elias Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Solomon B. Elias (90) on Tuesday,

December 9, 2025.   A devoted family man, Solomon was the beloved husband of 66 years to

his wife, Maryanne, and the cherished father of Tina, Michael (Kathy), Steven (Karen), and Judy

(Juice).

Solomon—known fondly as Sal—found heart filled joy in the lives, achievements, and antics of

each of his grandchildren. He was a treasured grandfather to Angela; Anthony (Roberson);

Elizabeth; Michael; Meagan (Diego); Bridgette (Justin); Nicholas; Aron; Steven (Alyssa); Marina;

and Jacob. He was further blessed with six great-grandchildren: Oliver, Elliot, Noah, Isla,

Maeve, and Callen, each of whom brought him immense delight. We were blessed to gather

together with all those he loved for his 90th birthday celebration in September.

Following a career with the Fire Department of New York, Engine 320, Sal continued his

dedication to the firefighting community in retirement. As President of the Long Island

Association of Retired NYC Firefighters, he worked tirelessly on behalf of his fellow retirees,

embodying the enduring brotherhood of the fire service.

Sal’s interests were as wide-ranging as his kindness and generosity to every person he met. He

loved to talk! He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing and travel with enthusiasm, and held a deep

and abiding love for his country. His passion for patriotism and service was evident in all that he

did and a legacy which lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to

know him.
