Obituary of Walter V. Arnold

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Walter Vincent Arnold II, known to all who loved him as Buzzy, 80, of Massapequa, New York, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. Born on May 21, 1945, in Freeport, New York, he was the son of Miriam Arnold and Walter Vincent Arnold. He grew up in Massapequa, where he built a life rooted in family, loyalty, and hard work.

Walter carried the quiet power of a man built for life’s hardest moments. After losing his father at nine years old, he stepped into responsibility far earlier than most, helping raise his family and developing the strength and character that guided him throughout his life. He met every challenge head on and never once stepped away from the duties that came his way. He lived with an unwavering sense of honor. He was generous, kind, fiercely loyal, and always driven by what he believed was right.

Together with his brother William, Walter built and operated Kelley Floors, a local carpet and flooring business that served the community for more than forty years. His work ethic was steady and enduring, and full of pride for the customers and neighbors who became part of his extended family.

Walter had a magnetic spirit. Gregarious and charming, he loved good company, a great meal, and a lively party. He was always surrounded by friends and family, the people he cherished most. He had a deep love for 60s Rock, Bob Marley, and especially his wife’s cooking. He carried a timeless style wherever he went, often dressed in his familiar Brooks Brothers shirt and tie, a look that felt as enduring as the man himself.

Above all else, Walter’s greatest pride was the family he built with his beloved wife, Dolores. They married young and began a lifelong partnership grounded in devotion and love. Together they raised five children in a home filled with warmth and laughter. Their family later grew with six grandchildren, each one welcomed into the same warm circle of togetherness that shaped Walter’s life.

This year, Walter and Dolores celebrated their sixty year wedding anniversary, a true testament to the remarkable love and partnership they shared.

Walter is survived by his devoted wife Dolores Arnold; his loving children Kelley, Kimberly (Joel), BJ (Erynn), Courtney, and Andrew (Simmy); and his cherished grandchildren Angela, Madison (Tom), Brian, Daniel, Dylan, and Jordan. He is also survived by his siblings Connie, Laurel, William, and Robert, and predeceased by siblings John and Andrea.

He leaves behind a legacy of family, strength, and love that will continue to live on in every life he touched.
