Obituary of Richard Melchers

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard H. Melchers (94) on Tuesday October 28, 2025.   He was a beloved husband, father, and  grandfather.  His kind, generous and loving spirit led him to know many friends who he held close to his heart.

Richard was a proud father to his 3 children Deborah, Jennifer and Barbara (daughters of his late wife Erna Melchers).  He was a proud grandfather to Thomas, and Nicholas (sons of Deborah), Rebecca, (daughter of Jennifer)  Niko and Jimmy (sons of Barbara and Mike).   He will be deeply missed by his second wife Judy and her family.

Richard worked for Northrop Grumman for more than 40 years.  He very proudly worked on securing parts for the F-14 Tomcat and various projects connected to the U.S. Defense Department.

Richard was an avid Mets fan.  He loved boating and fishing on his pride and joy JBERD.  He was passionate about bowling and at the age of 94 had better averages than his younger competitors.    He will be remembered for his unwavering faith in God,  his kind and generous heart which will continue to live through his service, dedication and devotion  to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.   Richard will forever live in the hearts of all that were fortunate enough  to know him.
