Obituary of Mary Anne Leap
Mary Anne Leap, 64 years old, beloved wife of Edward Leap, passed away on
August 23, 2025, surrounded by her family, who adored and loved her more than
words can describe.
She was born on October 15, 1960, in Brooklyn, NY, as the first daughter of the
late Joan and John Coll. She graduated from Catherine McAuley High School
and Marist College, and began her career at Shearson Lehman Brothers. She
met the love of her life and best friend, Ed, in the Hamptons in the summer of
1986, and the two got married on June 4, 1988, at Maria Regina Church.
Together, the two built a beautiful family, which was their greatest joy and life’s
devotion.
Mary Anne was beautiful, kind, loyal, and a fierce protector of those she loved.
She turned ordinary moments into extraordinary and magical memories through
her thoughtfulness and giving nature, and made her family feel safe and loved
through all of the happy and challenging times. She was a devout parishioner of
Maria Regina Church, loved hosting holidays and family parties, and was
thoroughly enjoying her retirement with Ed.
She served many roles throughout her life, the most important being wife,
mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She truly poured her heart and soul into
her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Edward Leap, and
her five children, whom she loved immeasurably, Christopher (Kristie) Leap,
Caitlin (Patrick) Mills, Kelly (Thomas) Preti, Meghan (Lawrence) Kroez, and Ryan
Leap. She also leaves behind her four beautiful grandchildren, Kennedy and
Quinn Kroez, Brady Mills, and Caden Leap; her sisters, Joan (John) Lovett,
Regina McGuire, Dorothea (Gary) Grubb, and Eileen Leogrande; and many
treasured nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents,
Joan and John Coll, and her father and mother-in-law, Edward and Mildred Leap.
Her family and friends were everything to her, and she showered them with an
abundance of love each and every day. To know Mary Anne was to love her and
being loved by her was the greatest blessing you could ever have. Her family will
spend the rest of time remembering all of the wonderful things about her and
keeping her beautiful memory and spirit alive by living each day as she lived and
showing love, kindness, and understanding to all.
Mary Anne will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
