Obituary of Rose Mazza
Rose Mazza, 95, passed away quietly early on Holy Thursday last week, 4/17/25 in her Massapequa home with her children & family by her side.
Born in New Jersey in 1929 to parents Vincent & Catarina Lepro, she was the last & oldest surviving sibling of five children. While raising her own family of four children, at 40 Rose went back to school earning two master’s degrees in education. She initially taught @ St. James Roman Catholic Church in Seaford, New York & than went on to finish her teaching career @ Massapequa schools as a beloved special education teacher @ the elementary level.
Rose was an expert cake & food decorator teaching adult education classes in the 70’s to the delight of hundreds of students.
She is survived by three sons John(Cathy), Ron(Jill), & Vic, six grandchildren & three great grandchildren. nieces, nephews, cousins & countless friends.
Services to be held on April 24th & 25th, 2025 @ the William E. Law Funeral Home, 2-4pm, 7-9pm with a Funeral mass at Maria Regina RC Church on Saturday the 26th at 9am. Rose will then be immediately buried at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, New York where her late parents, husband, 911 hero daughter Kathy and other family members are laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers consider a donation to “The Captain Kathy Mazza Delosh” Italian American lodge on Grumman Way, Bethpage New York which was renamed for Rose’s hero 911 first responder daughter Kathy Mazza Delosh. Kathy’s husband Chris Delosh (remarried, retired NYPD) is currently the lodge’s president. Chris has been exemplary regards to his steadfast support, generosity and love towards Rose & her family.
